Loretta Ann (Jandera) Becker was born Monday, February 20, 1933 in Hanover, Kansas, and passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in Logan, Kansas.
The second child of Joe and Anna Jandera, she attended schools in Hanover, Colby and Logan, graduating from Logan High School with the class of 1951.
She was married to Paul Eugene Becker on June 11, 1951 in St. John's Catholic Church, Logan, by the Rev. Thomas Koegan. Upon Paul's discharge from the Army the coupled moved to their farm 6 miles north of Logan. Their marriage was blessed with the adoption of three children: Shirley in April, 1957, then Susan and Bill in August, 1958.
They lived on the farm until the summer of 1983 when they moved to their new home in town. Loretta remained in this home until February, 2013, at which time she moved into the Logan Manor Nursing Home.
Loretta worked for Ralph Donahey's Grocery Store from 1951 – 1953 and then later at Logan Manor from the early 1990's until September 30, 1998. She was blessed to celebrate 64 years of marriage to Paul, her high school sweetheart.
In her spare time Loretta enjoyed gardening and babysitting with her nephews, Travis Jandera and Ty & Chad Becker. Her children, grandkids and great-grandkids were the joys of her life. She loved children and was always happy to hold all the babies in her family.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Rhodney & Lucille Becker; her son, Bill; infant brother, Joe Jandera, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Jerome Becker and Alvin Bittel; and sisters-in-law, Kay Becker and Ruth Becker.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Logan; daughters, Susan (Mike) Elliott and Shirley (Darrell) Colby, both of Phillipsburg, KS; 4 grandkids: Wayne (Valorie) Grammon of Hays, KS; Amy (Chris) Rundell of Dayton, WY; Jessica (Rodger) Keehn of Beatrice, NE; and Kayla (Jeff) Zerr of Heartwell, NE; 10 great-grandkids, plus another due in July, 2016; her brother, Jerrold (Wanda) Jandera , and her sister, Betty Jane Bittel, all of Logan, KS; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church, Logan, with Father George Chalbhagam officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 2, from 5 – 9 p.m. and again Sunday, Jan. 3, from noon – 9 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home in Logan. A Rosary service will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends afterward from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to Logan Manor or Logan ABC Day Care.
