Obituary

Lula M. Patterson, daughter of Mike and Anna B. (Wagner) Weinman, was born April 27, 1920, on a farm near Stuttgart, Kansas. She departed this life on February 3, 2010 at the Phillips County Retirement Center at the age of 89 years.
She was married to Gerald Patterson on September 8, 1938. To this union, one son, Merlyn, was born.
Lula was confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a young girl. After marriage, she became a member of the First Baptist Church.
Gerald and Lula loved the country and farmed all their married life. They eventually settled on Gerald's grandfather's place in Deer Creek Township.
Lula loved nature and enjoyed talking about her experiences on the farm. When she had her sight, she loved sewing and knitting. She had many cherished memories of Gerald and her getting dressed up - him in his western shirt and boots and herself in a pretty dress that she had made and high heels - and then going out for the evening to dine.
When the grandchildren were young, they had fun going to the farm; seeing the animals, the newborn calves, feeding Grandma's pet hens and gathering eggs. They looked forward to Grandma baking them a unique birthday cake. She also liked to help them make and bake miniature pies. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Lydia Davis; and her parents. Another sister, Lucinda Kaiser, joined her in heaven on February 8, 2010.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her son, Merlyn and wife, Dolores, Phillipsburg, KS; one grandson, Dalyn Patterson and wife, Tammy, Topeka, KS; one granddaughter, Merresa Williams and husband, Kelly, Hays, KS; sisters: Linda Zordel and husband, Bob, Hill City, KS and Lela Kipp, Phillipsburg, KS; one brother: Arlynn Weinman, Phillipsburg, KS; one brother-in-law, Harold Kaiser, Phillipsburg, KS; and many other relatives-and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Today, February 9, 2010 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Charles F. Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Mrs. Patterson will lie in state today until service time at the funeral home.
