Lydia was born into this world on Nov. 13th, 1940 to Nicholas and Mary (Urban) Herman, in LaCrosse, KS. The family later moved to Norton, KS. She was united in marriage to Robert Kendall, Sr. on Nov. 9th, 1957 and then moved to Phillipsburg, KS. To this union, four children were born, Robert Jr., Marlana, Jacqui, and Edmond. After the children were older, Lydia fulfilled a dream of hers by obtaining her Cosmetology license and opening up her own hair style shop, Hair Etc., in Phillipsburg.
She enjoyed taking care of her family and patrons, as well as drinking coffee every morning with the gang and keeping up on what was taking place in town. She was a devout member of the SS Philip & James Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Phillipsburg.
Lydia left this earth to be with the heavenly Father and family on Dec. 31, 2019 at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Mary, her brothers, Virgil, Orville, Dale, Francis, Denny, and Kenneth, as well as her late husband Robert, Sr. Those celebrating her new birth and keeping her in their thoughts are her brother Marion Herman and wife Helen of Longmont, CO, sisters-in-law, Marlene Cramer and husband Gordon of Longmont, CO, and Joni Webster of Saint George, KS. Immediate families of Robert Kendall, Jr. and wife Ronda of Phillipsburg, Marlana Shellito of Rawlins, WY, Jacqui Merklein and husband John of Amarillo TX and Edmond Kendall and wife DeAnna of Sidney, NE. She leaves behind nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from throughout her life.
Cremation was chosen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the SS Philip & James Catholic Church with Fr. Daryl Olmstead & Fr. George Chalbhagam officiating.
A Virgil & Rosary service will be held Sun. Jan. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the SS Philip & James Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Services.
