Lyle David Rose, son of August & Eva (Addie) Rose, was born July 14, 1928 on the family farm near Agra, KS. He passed away on January 12, 2021 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 92.
He attended school In Agra, graduating from Agra High School with the class of 1945. On June 8, 1947, Lyle was united in marriage to Fronna King in Phillipsburg. To this union, one son David & two daughters, Sharon & Marian were born.
Lyle & Fronna made their home in Phillipsburg. Lyle worked for the Clar-Mar Dairy before going to work as a truck driver for Farmland Industries in 1953.
Lyle enjoyed square dancing, traveling & was an avid hunter for many years. He was active in his church & community, holding several positions in both. Lyle & Fronna, along with their three children, were members of both the Maverick & Rodeo bands. Lyle was the last surviving original member of the Maverick band.
In 2017, Lyle & Fronna were blessed to celebrate 70 years of marriage, a rare milestone & a small family celebration was held to honor them.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fronna; his parents, August & Eva; his father & mother-in-law, Cecil & Florence King; his brothers: Melvin, Loyd & Ronald Rose; sisters-in-law: Bonnie Wehe, Joyce Boeve, Marlyn King, Joyce & Onna Lee Rose; brothers-in-law: Maynard Wehe, Duane Powers, Bob Boeve & Mancel King
Survivors include his son David of Phillipsburg; daughters, Sharon Kellogg & husband Kenneth of Andover, KS & Marian Silkman of Hays; his brother, Russell & wife Carol of Agra; his grandchildren: Chris Kellogg, Alisha Streit & husband Johnathan, Janna Callahan & husband Russ, Jane Allen & husband Dustin & Sarah Silkman; great grandchildren: Noah & Ava Streit, Elliott & Bennett Callahan & Adaleigh Allen; brother-in-law Howard King & wife Dorothy & sister-in-law Martha Rose.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Jan. 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the West Cedar Cemetery, Phillips County.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Thursday & 9:00 to 9:00 Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the church.
