Obituary

Lyle James Stutterheim, son of Nick & Nina (Capstick) Stutterheim, was born June 19, 1937 on a farm in Phillips County, Kansas. He passed away June 24, 2017 in North Platte, Nebraska, at Great Plains Health, having just celebrated his 80th birthday.

Lyle graduated from Prairie View High School in Prairie View, Kansas.

Lyle married Carolene DeBoer on April 21, 1956. The couple was blessed with five children: Roy, Linda, Karen, Steve and Nick. They made their home in Prairie View, Kansas, until their daughter, Karen, was born. Then the family moved to a farm near Prairie View in Phillips County. Lyle farmed there until 1979 when he started driving a truck.

Carolene & Lyle divorced in 1996.

On June 22, 1997, Lyle married Lois Deertz. They lived on a farm near North Platte, Nebraska, where Lyle helped area farmers harvest their crops.

In his spare time Lyle enjoyed watching NASCAR races and college football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick & Nina; sister, Mary; and brother-in-law, Jack Hubbard.

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of North Platte, NE; his children: Roy (Diane) Stutterheim of Prairie View, KS; Linda (Kent) Naegele of Lucas, KS; Karen (Stephen) Reese, of Logan, KS; Steve (Sue) Stutterheim and Nick (Lisa) Stutterheim, all of Prairie View, KS; sisters, Eileen (Jan) Schemper of Prairie View, KS and Doris (Gary) Mulder of Logan, KS; as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Sat. July 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Aaron Rust officiating. A private family inurnment will be held in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Friends may sign the book from 9:00 to 9:00 Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Terry Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research.
