Obituary

Margaret LoRene Miner, daughter of Ivan Wayne Ladd & Grethel Frances (Covington) Ladd, was born May 24, 1946 in Phillipsburg, Kansas and passed away September 27, 2013 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 67.
She graduated from Phillipsburg High School and attended Cosmetology school for one year. On August 27, 1966 LoRene married Jimmie Lavern Miner in Phillipsburg, Kansas. The couple was blessed with a son, Brian, and a daughter, Lynell.
In addition to being a wife and mother, LoRene worked as a hair stylist and also as a floral designer at Quanz Floral and New Beginnings in Phillipsburg. Her hobbies included sewing, shopping, camping and interior design.
However, the most important activities in her life always revolved around her four grandchildren. They were her pride and joy! She had a knack for showing up at sporting events or school activities with her hair and/or nails dyed or painted in school colors, or her face adorned with tattoos or dirt bike emblems. She was definitely young at heart and one of the "hippest" grandmas around!
Her love of family, sense of humor, caring nature and youthful spirit will be deeply missed by all her loved ones and friends.
Her parents, Ivan & Grethel Ladd; son, Brian Wayne Miner, and brother, Wayne Ladd, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home in Phillipsburg; her daughter, Lynell LoRene Miskimins & husband, Carl, of Halstead, KS; daughter-in-law, Angel Miner of Agra, KS; grandchildren Breck Michayle Miner, Dalton Brian Miner, Christopher Carl Jimmie Miskimins and Brian Wayne Miskimins; and two sisters, Donna Jo (Douglas) Simmonds and Reta Lee (Douglas) Griffin, both of Phillipsburg, KS.
Funeral services will be held Wed., Oct. 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Burial will follow in the Agra Cemetery, Agra, KS.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 – 9 p.m. and Tues. from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tues. evening.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Johnson Cancer Research Center
