Margaret "Marge" Ann Hembree, 86, passed away on July 11, 2026, at the Garden Valley Retirement Village, in Garden City, Kansas.

Marge was born on November 1, 1939, in Speed, Kansas, to her parents, Fred L. and Wilma Fay (Weaver) Albright. She was the youngest of their children and grew up in the small community of Speed, where she attended grade school before attending Phillipsburg High School. During her high school years, she worked at the general store, in Speed.

As a young girl, Marge learned many of life's important skills from her mother. She developed a love for cooking, homemaking, animals and gardening that remained with her throughout her life. Music also held a special place in her heart. While her sister, Lorraine, took piano lessons, Marge eagerly waited for her turn at the piano and very quickly realized she loved playing.

Marge was united in marriage to Lawrence "Larry" James Schuckman, Sr. in La Crosse, Kansas. To this union, one son, Lawrence "Larry" James Schuckman, Jr. was born in 1958 in Logan, KS. The couple later divorced.

She was employed by the Pratt County Attorney's Office in Pratt, Kansas, before moving to Larned in 1975. There she met Billy Gene Hembree, and the couple were united in marriage on February 8, 1975, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. They made their home in Ness City before eventually settling in Garden City.

Marge opened “Yosemite’s Saloon” in Holcomb, Kansas in 1991. She proudly owned and operated the bar and grill for ten years.

In her later years, Marge found great companionship with animals, especially dogs, which brought her much happiness and comfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred L. and Wilma Fay Albright; her brothers, Frank Kenneth Albright and Fred Wayne Albright, Sr.; her sisters, Lorraine Lucille Pinkerton and Ollie Irene Smith; her husband Bill Hembree; and her son Larry J. Schuckman Jr.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 24, at 10:00 a.m., at the Fairview Cemetery, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Scott Eller officiating. Friends and relatives may sign the register book on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
