Phillipsburg resident, Marilee Ann DeBey, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Phillips County Retirement Center, Phillipsburg, at the age of 85.
She was born April 10, 1932 in Stockton, KS the daughter of Orville Kenworthy and Mildred Lewin-Kenworthy-Odle. She graduated from Stockton High School the class of 1950. She was united in marriage on May 19, 1950 to Edward DeBey the day of her graduation. To this marriage a son Orville Thomas and a daughter Linda Marie were born.
Marilee loved the farm and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and especially gardening and raising chickens. She was a member of the Delmer Women's Club and of the United Methodist Church of Kirwin, KS.
Marilee enjoyed the early morning coffee drinkers that would come to the house every morning to solve the world problems and to pull one another's leg. She also enjoyed her grand kids and great grand kids. She also enjoyed having family get to gathers in her home.
Survivors include her son, Tom DeBey and wife, Evelyn of Phillipsburg; daughter, Linda Mai of Great Bend, KS; step-sister Ada Strutt of Stockton; step-brother Gary Barry of Indiola, IA; grandson Kent Mai, wife Lynn, daughters Elly and Lilly of Gossell, KS; granddaughter, Alisha DeBey of Smith Center, KS; granddaughter Audrey Siebert, husband Troy, daughters Karolina and Dakota, son Colt of Levant, KS; grandson Matthew Mai of Great Bend, KS.
Marilee was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edward, sister Leta and brother Kenny, step-mother Maxine, step-brothers Dale and Cary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd Street, Phillipsburg, KS 67661, with Pastor Deb Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Phillips County, KS.
Mrs. DeBey will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday & Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delmar Hall Women's Club or Phillips County Retirement Center.
