Obituary

Marilyn (Post) Ross, age 74, of Phillipsburg, KS passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg.

Marilyn was born on May 20, 1946 in Logan, KS to Alpha (Ray) Post and Earl Post. She was one of 10 children, her being the 7th child.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Eugene Ross, on March 22, 1964. To this union, two children were born: Shannon and Mitch. While the kids were growing up, Marilyn was a stay at home mom who devoted herself to caring for her family. Later she worked for the Phillipsburg school district in the lunchroom for many years. After retirement, Marilyn and Eugene enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel to Arizona, gambling in Vegas and going to their grandchildren's many activities. She enjoyed a special trip to Jamaica to her granddaughter's wedding and a mother-daughter trip to New York City.

Marilyn always enjoyed her weekly morning coffee get togethers with her many friends, including her best friend of 69 years, Carol Ward.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Frank Post and Roland Post, and her sister Ann Elizabeth Lowry.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Ross of the home; her children Shannon Hahn and husband Stefan of Overland Park, KS and Mitch Ross and wife Cindy of rural Stockton, KS;  grandchildren David Ross, Jessy Maddy, Cole Hahn and Ross Hahn; great grandchildren Isaiah Ross, Wyatt and Josie Maddy; brothers Tom Post of Pratt, KS, David Post of Elbert, CO, and Norman Post of Hill City, KS; and sisters Mary Breese of Logan, KS, Lola Campbell of Dickens, TX, and Barbra Holm of Ness City, KS.

Funeral services for Marilyn will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating.  The services will be streamed live on Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page .  Burial will follow in the Slate Cemetery, Rooks County, KS.

Mrs. Ross will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, where the family will receive friends for visitation from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or Phillips County Hospital Nursing Department.
