Obituary

Marilyn Jane Allen Whitsitt, daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Tillman) Wolters, was born August 21, 1931 at her home in Prairie View, KS. She passed away on December 11, 2014 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 83.
She attended school in Prairie View and graduated from Prairie View High School with the class of 1949. After graduating, Marilyn attended business school in Denver, CO. She then went to work for Ideal Truck Line in Norton, KS.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Ted Allen on February 20, 1952 at Prairie View, KS and to this union, three children were born; Randy, Roxanne and Regina.

The couple resided most of their married life in Logan, KS. They established the Logan Rest Home and the Logan Laundromat. She then spent many years as an office manager for Baird Oil. Ted preceded her in death on August 5, 1991.
On October 8, 1994, Marilyn was united in marriage to Virgil Whitsitt and moved to Phillipsburg.

Marilyn enjoyed collecting anything and everything, especially angels and churches. Her favorite pastime was spent quilting and embroidering for family and friends, volunteering at the hardly used shop and spending time with her grandkids and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, her brother Alden Wolters and 1 step grandson.
Survivors include her husband Virgil of the home, her son, Randy and wife Marsha of Smith Center, KS, her daughters; Roxanne Bartlett of Colwich, KS and Regina Godinez and husband Ruben of Phillipsburg, KS; 2 step-daughters; Peggy Dayton and husband JD of Dayton, OR and Lois Blakemore of Grand Island , NE; 4 sisters: Wauneta Schemper of Norton, Hazel Jansonius of Prairie View, Dolores Walcott of Albuquerque, NM and Rose Erickson of Phillipsburg; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 15, at 1:00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Phillipsburg, with Rev. Gary Davison officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, Kansas.

Friends may sign the book on Sunday, Dec. 14, from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg.
Contributions in her memory may be given to the Phillips County Hospital Hospice Room or the Johnson Cancer Research Center.
