Obituary

Marjorie Lucille Bugbee was born May 3, 1931 in Phillips County, Kansas to Glenn & Mae (Ellis) Kendall. She passed away at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, Kansas on November 9, 2017 at the age of 86.

Marjorie grew up in Phillips County until her parents moved to Homedale, Idaho. After graduating from Homedale High School she moved back to Kansas and on September 6, 1948, was united in marriage to Raymond Bugbee.

Raymond & Marjorie lived and worked on the family farm north of Phillipsburg. They had two children – a daughter, LaDonna, and a son, Eugene.

Marjorie worked hard on the farm and always had a big garden. She enjoyed sewing and made many clothes and quilts for her family, including "Barbie stuff". She was an excellent cook and her cinnamon rolls were second to none. She always baked them for the guys who helped work cattle. Denny Paulsen and Jerry Fischer would look forward to eating them and Marjorie always made sure they had some to take home. Her family always enjoyed going to Grandma's house for home-cooked meals and goodies. Her recipes have been shared and passed on to many.

After her children were grown, Marjorie cleaned houses for "her ladies." She was a kind and soft-spoken woman whose wisdom and common sense were greatly appreciated. She was happy to serve others but didn't want anyone to "fuss" over her.

Marjorie diligently prayed and studied God's word, as evidenced by her worn Bible. Her family couldn't remember how many times she had read the entire book, but her faithful example was an inspiration to her family. She will be deeply missed.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Glenn and Mae; her husband, Raymond; a brother, Jim Kendall; and a sister, Opal Shelton.

She is survived by her children, LaDonna & Rich Karnowski and Gene & Raylene Bugbee, all of Phillipsburg, KS; five grandchildren: Julie Brown & husband, Marvin, Amanda Rasmussen & husband, Travis, Joni Karnowski, Ross Bugbee, and Abby Bugbee; four great-grandchildren: Keaton and Kinley Brown and Everly and Francie Rasmussen; along with a sister-in-law, Naomi Tuxhorn of McPherson, KS.

Funeral services will be held Thursday November 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg with Pastors Rod Collins, Les Ellis, and Randy Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips County Retirement Center.
