Obituary

Mark Van Scyoc, son of Richard & Betty (Aiken) Van Scyoc, was born July 29, 1952 in Osborne, Kansas and died Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Osborne County Hospital in Osborne at the age of 59.

Mark met and began dating Margaret Randolph in 1977, and the couple married on August 12, 1988 in Masonville, CO.

In his spare time Mark enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors, whether it was farming with Clyde Wheeler or helping John Simpson with his livestock, he just enjoyed working outside. Other memorable events were going to the Tulsa Chili Bowl, watching Sprint car races, and traveling to Colorado to cut wood with John & Betty Kitchen and listen to the elk bugling.

However, his favorite activity of all was taking his grandkids and great-grandkids rides on his 4-wheeler. He also loved being able to go to Travis's baseball games and spend time with his extended family. Mark's loving nature and generosity to friends and family was an inspiration to all who knew him. He always thought of others before himself and was a great stepdad and Pappy.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of the home; children, Renee Gordon of Luray, KS; Shelly Pfeifer of Salina, KS; Toni Standley & husband, Kevin, of Osborne, KS; and Scott Randolph of Shawnee, KS; seven grandchildren: Tonya Beach, Jessica Beach, Darin Gordon, Chris Pfeifer, Jamie Pfeifer, Chandler Randolph and Travis Godfrey; six great-grandchildren: Alayna, Paige, Payton, Liam, Sophie and Maggie; and two brothers, Evan Van Scyoc of Osborne, KS and Neal Van Scyoc & wife, Joan, of Charleston, SC and their two children, Jessica & Adam.

A private family graveside will be held.
