Obituary

Mary Faye Bandt McClure, daughter of Benjamin Harry & Lizzie (McClaskey) Sparks, was born February 23, 1921 in Glade, Kansas and passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas at the age of 93.
She grew up in a large family, having four brothers and five sisters. At a young age Mary had to quit school to stay home and care for her dying mother. Her compassion and kindness for those who needed help became the foundation for her lifetime career as a nurse and caregiver.
On December 23, 1937 she was united in marriage to Amel P. Bandt. To this union two sons were born, Leland and Layton. Amel passed away in 1980 and son, Layton, in 2009.
Mary became the wife of Woodrow McClure on March 11, 1985 and two years later Woodrow passed away, on December 30, 1987.
Mary spent many years as a Nurse's Assistant to the famous "Dr. Mary" in Phillipsburg, helping to deliver many babies in Phillips County. Later she worked as a nurse at the Phillips County Retirement home. For as long as she was physically able, Mary cared for and provided loving assistance and support to the homebound and elderly.
Her free time was spent reading her Bible. She was a lifelong and devoted member of the Church of God in Phillipsburg. People knew her as a caring, compassionate and giving woman with a tender, sweet disposition. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Her husbands, Amel Bandt and Woodrow McClure, as well as her son, Layton Bandt, preceded her in death, along with her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, Leland Bandt & wife, Roberta, of Erie, CO; her sister, Jenny Trellinger of Oregon; 3 grandchildren: Randy Bandt & wife, Kelly, Ryan Bandt & wife, Shelley, and Tamra Griffey & husband, Jeff; 5 great-grandchildren: Jerri, Tyler, Justin, Toma and Rylie; and 4 great-great-grandchildren: Derek, Owen, Lilly and Lukas.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of God, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Tim Krafft officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade, KS.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, from noon – 9 p.m. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
