Mary Edna (Reinert) Ritter, 88 of Phillipsburg, KS died Sunday, October 7, 2018. Mary was born April 24, 1930 at the family farm in Seguin, daughter of Theodore and Anna (Geerdes) Reinert.
She married Vincent M. Ritter on May 29, 1950 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Seguin. To this union, they were blessed with eleven children. Mary was a homemaker. She also worked as a head cook/custodian for the Leoville school. She was a CNA & CMA for the Sheridan County LTCU for over 30 years. Mary loved to bake & cook delicious food for her family. She was an avid gardener & had a basement full of canned produce. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, altar society & served the church by helping to keep it clean.
Survivors include her husband, Vincent, Phillipsburg; five sons: Charles & Laura Ritter of Kansas City; August (Joe) Ritter of Goodland; Will & Tina Ritter of Olathe; Rick & Lynette Ritter of Colby; Paul & Kalyn Ritter of Monument; four daughters: Irene & Steve Whorton of Topeka; Doris & Kevin Yonke of Holton; Louise & Randy Phillips of Lawrence; Jayne & Darryl Leidig of Phillipsburg; 33 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilfrid Reinert of Seguin; Dennis & Angie Reinert of Lamar, CO; sisters, Caroline Jacobs of Dresden; Sr. Anne Martin (Irene) Reinert of Concordia; Janet & Richard Berger of Nicholasville, KY; and Ruth Reinert of Dodge City.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Katherine Fitzgibbons & MaDonna Cully; daughter, Carol A. Wilson; son, John M. Ritter; son-in-law, James Fuller; & granddaughter, Jennifer Whorton
A Rosary and Wake service will be held Wed., Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held Thurs. Oct. 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the SS Philip & James Catholic Church with Father Jose Kumblumikal officiating. A Prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Leoville with Burial to follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Leoville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Tuesday and 9:00 to 9:00 Wednesday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice Services or Downs Syndrome of Kansas City.
