Obituary

Maxine Lowry, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Friday, Feb. 17th, 2012 at the Logan Manor at the age of 89.

She was born April 1, 1922 to Dewey and Edith Laughlin at Norton, Kansas.

Maxine grew up in Norton County and graduated from Almena High School.

She married Roger Lowry September 29, 1942. To this union five sons and two daughters were born.

Maxine loved spending time with family and friends. She always enjoyed being part of neighborhood clubs, working with 4-H, helping with church functions, and working in her yard.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Lowry; daughter, Phyllis Ann Lowry; her parents; four brothers: Howard, Bob, Wayne, and Allen Laughlin; three sisters: Forene Lowry, Laura Belle Turner, and Vera Ruesink; and grandson, Kirby Lowry.

Survivors include her sons: Max Lowry and wife, Donna of Logan; Don Lowry and wife, Marilyn of Almena; Phillip Lowry and wife, Rita of Hutchinson; Bill Lowry and wife, Susan of Hoisington; and Calvin Lowry and wife, Emily of Prairie View; her daughter, Twila Dizmang and husband, Dwane of Almena; 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Viola VanDer Wege of Colorado Springs, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in the Almena Congregational Church with Pastors Kirk Kasson & Troy Buss officiating. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery, Norton, KS.

Mrs. Lowry will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan Manor Nursing Home or the Almena Congregational Church.
