Mercedes Marie (Miller) Wilmot, daughter of Ralph T. and Shirley (Siegrist) Miller, was born
July 22, 1928 in rural Phillips County and passed away September 30, 2017 at Good Samaritan
Society---Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska at the age of 89 years.
She grew up on the family farm, attending Deer Creek District #5 country school and then
Phillipsburg High School, graduating with the class of 1947. She was a member of the
United Presbyterian Church.
On October 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Lyman J. Wilmot. They made their
home in Phillipsburg, where they spent 44 happy years together before his passing in 1992.
She lived her whole life in Phillips County until moving to Colonial Villa in 2014.
Mercedes was a homemaker and a caregiver. Her greatest joy was her family and she
was a loving & devoted daughter, wife, sister & aunt. She had a special love for her nieces
and nephews. They brought her much enjoyment and they were a big part of her life.
Mercedes was a kind and gentle person, always putting others before herself. She was an
avid reader, loved country music & attending country concerts, as well as feeding &
watching birds. She also helped out with work on the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her parents & husband, Lyman.
She is survived by one brother, Rodney R. Miller & wife, Marie, of Arvada, CO; one sister,
Adele A. Miller & husband, Bill, of Phillipsburg; nephew, Michael J. Miller, of Commerce City, CO;
nieces, Teresa A. Cunningham & husband, Bruce, of Denver, CO and Sarah A. Minkler of
Phillipsburg; and great-nephew, Brennan Cunningham & great-niece, Sienna Cunningham; along
with cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Oct. 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Chris Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:00 Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
