Phillipsburg resident, Mieng Thi Bui, passed away Sept. 1, 2010 at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 68.

She was born Feb. 6, 1942 in Ninh Hoa, Viet Nam, the daughter of Cay Tran & Nhi Thi (Vo) Tran.

She was united in marriage to Chuong Bui on March 25, 1960 in Vietnam. Together they found their way to Phillipsburg, Kansas and owned & operated the Oriental-American Restaurant. Besides her passion for cooking, she enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

Mrs. Bui is survived by her husband, Chuong, of the home; her 8 children, Joseph & his wife, Gwen, Phillipsburg, Amy & her husband Philip Nguyen, Phillipsburg, Phong & his wife, Nancy, Blue Springs, Missouri, Stephanie & her husband, Michael Habiger, Olathe, Nga & his wife, Kim, Phillipsburg, Tau & her husband, Eduardo Juarez, Olathe, Dung & his fiancé Meghan Pearce, Overland Park, Hung & his fiancé, Kira Schumacher, Phillipsburg; 1 brother & 4 sisters all in Vietnam; and 16 grandchildren.

Mieng will be sadly missed by all. With her bright smile and her loving ways, she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Funeral services were held Sat., Sept. 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Olliff- Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman and Father Benjamin Saw officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Lutheran Church, the SS Philip & James Catholic Church, or the American Diabetes Association.
