Obituary

Longtime Phillipsburg resident, Mildred Moore, 84, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

She was born April 10, 1927 in Overton, Nebraska to Ira J. & Mabel (Frost) Daniels. She was one of several children.

On September 5, 1953, she married Marshall O. Moore, Sr. To this union five children were born: Ilene, Theresa, Marshall, Lawrence and Leland. On August 22, 1964 she lost Marshall in Illinois, causing her to move her family back to Kansas.

In 1980 she left Concordia, Kansas and moved to Phillipsburg to be closer to family once again. She worked as a dishwasher at the E & M Café and Martha's Café in Phillipsburg and cleaned game birds for the hunters during pheasant season. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting & crocheting, making afghans for friends and family members.

In 2002 Mildred moved into the Phillips County Retirement Center, where she continued to do her knitting until a stroke left her unable to do so.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughter, Theresa; and son, Lawrence.

Survivors include her sons, Marshall Moore of Phillipsburg, KS and Leland Moore of Marysville, KS; her daughter, Ilene Timmons of Topeka, KS; her sister, Kathryn Bennett of Pittsburg, Kansas; and grandchildren, Ilia Burkes, Jessica Scott and Alyssa Moore.

Cremation was planned. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Friends may sign the book from Noon until 9 p.m. Sunday and again 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel,
