Obituary

Misty Diane (Nix) Redinger, daughter of Paul & Margaret (Smith) Nix, was born December 10, 1976 in Jacksonville, Texas. She passed away at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas on January 23, 2010 at the age of 33 years, 1 month and 23 days.

She attended schools in Alma, Nebraska, and received her high school GED in 1995.

On May 6, 2000 Misty was united in marriage to Donald D. Redinger in Glade, Kansas. To this union, two children were born: a son, Devon and a daughter, Sydnee.

As well as being a wife and devoted mother, she managed the Dollar General store in Phillipsburg. Misty's family meant the world to her, and they did everything together. Traveling to ballgames, attending Girl Scout events, camping, fishing, and watching movies were all activities they enjoyed as a family. She was especially close to her sister, her little brother, her nieces and nephews, and her parents.

Everyone loved Misty. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her loving and giving heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and co-workers. And hopefully, as time passes, you will be able to think of her and smile.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, E.B. & Annie Smith; her paternal grandfather, W.H. Nix; her father-in-law, Dwight Redinger; her brother-in-law, Kevin Kester; and a niece, Kendra Ferguson.

Survivors include her husband, Donny, son Devon, and daughter Sydnee, all of the home in Phillipsburg; her parents, Paul and Margaret Nix of Phillipsburg; her brother, Nicholas, also of Phillipsburg; her sister, LaDonna Kester of Stockton, KS; mother-in-law, Gertrude Redinger of Phillipsburg; paternal grandmother, Bobbie Nix of Agra, KS; nephews Jason Calhoon of Glade, KS and Thomas Kester of Stockton, KS; and nieces Annabelle, Jasmine, and McKenzie Kester, all of Stockton. Also surviving are seven uncles: Donnie Smith of Murchison, TX; Ronnie Smith of Fountain, CO; Junior Smith of Kilgore, TX; Wayne Nix of Pearland, TX; Blake Nix of LaRue, TX; Michael Nix of Agra, KS; and Shane Nix of Mesquite, TX; nine aunts: Patsy Turner and Pamela Rogers, both of Murchison, TX; Judy Hargrove of Orlando, FL; Martha Donaldson of Malakoff, TX; Carolyn Verhage of Kensington, KS; Gayle Johnson of Plainville, KS; Faye Nix of Agra, KS; Jodie Crawford of Willis, TX; and Nelda Massey of Red Oak, TX; four brothers-in-law: Gary Calhoon of Glade, KS; Jim Redinger of Phillipsburg; Jim Ferguson of Agra; and Jacob Stise of Stockton; and three sisters-in-law: Rhonda Calhoon of Glade; Debbie Ferguson of Agra; and Rachel Bruehahn of Phillipsburg.
