Myrna was born on Nov 10th. 1936, in Phillips County, Kansas, to Earl and Laura Groom. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School.
On March 7, 1957, Myrna married the love of her life, Bernard Townley, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Together they shared 69 years of marriage and built a life centered on family and farm life. Their union was blessed with four children.
Myrna’s life was full, as a wife, mom of four, homemaker, farmhand and caring for livestock and a secretary for High Plains Mental Health where she retired.
Many folks recognized her for her talent as a seamstress as she taught many 4-H kids thru the years. Also, well known for her ability to cook meals from scratch, canning and using produce from her garden. She always jumped on opportunities to take painting and craft classes. Much of her painting’s and craft could be seen thru out her home. When both had to start new chapter in Logan Manor one of their biggest requests was for some of her paintings to be placed in their rooms. Myrna especially enjoyed traveling if she could get Bernard away from the Farm and Cattle and she did get her way more often than not. Many will miss Myrna’s conversations as she was always known for her engagement.
After retirement they continued to farm for a few years, collect antiques, especially lanterns, huge gardens, crafts, reading and in general enjoying the quite life on the farm.
Family was the cornerstone of Myrna's life. She is survived by daughter, Melody (Dennis) Frazee of Converse, Texas; sons, Brent (Zina) Townley of Ben Franklin, Texas, and Brian (Joan) Townley of WaKeeney, Kansas; grandsons, Tanner (Marissa) Townley and Ryan Townley; great-granddaughter, Emerie Townley; sister-in-law, Donna Jean Townley.
