Neva Stephenson, daughter of Arthur & Myrtle (Olds) Hayes, was born April 20, 1921 in Speed, KS. She passed away on January 12, 2017 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 95.
Neva grew up in Speed where she attended school.
On October 30, 1939, she was united in marriage to Reuben Richardson. To this union 6 children were born. The family made their home in Phillipsburg where Neva ran several restaurants. After their children were raised, they moved to Colorado for a few years. The couple then moved to Hays where Neva worked for Travenol. After retirement, she took care of Reuben until he passed away on November 11, 1981.
Neva then moved to Stockton, where she was living when she met Dane Stephenson. They were married on September 20, 1986. They made their home in Speed before purchasing a home in Glade. Because of failing health, Neva entered the Phillips County Retirement Center in March of 2008. Dane Passed away on August 16, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; Reuben and Dane; her daughter, Leora Hutton; her daughter-in-law, Kay; her brother, Addison and her grandson Kurt.
Survivors include her son Ron Richardson of Garden City, MO; 4 daughters: Patsy Dodge & Barbara Schindler of Stockton, KS, Marcia Louis of Dundalk, MD & Roxie Pope of Phillipsburg; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren & 20 great great grandchildren
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Church of God, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Tim Kraft officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 9:00 Sunday & 9:00 to 9:00 Monday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or the Phillips County Retirement Center.
