Norma Frieda Vogel Preuss passed away August 30, 2026 at her daughter’s home in Wood River, NE at the age of 107. She was born March 25, 1919 in Phillips County to Henry and Emma (Eltiste) Vogel.
She married Leonard Preuss on June 25, 1950. They made their home on a farmstead east of Stuttgart, KS.
Norma was a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stuttgart.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Nancy) Preuss, Marysville, KS, daughter Mary Harders, Wood River, NE, four grandsons, Kevin Preuss, San Antonio, TX, James Preuss, Home, KS, Roger (Samantha) Harders and Ryan (Megan) Harders, Cairo, NE, great grandchildren Braden and Quinn Preuss, Ruby and Ruth Harders and Georgie Burgess.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Willis, husband Leonard, sister Mathilda (Tillie) Grau and son-in-law Ronald Harders.
Memorial service will be at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with internment at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Stuttgart, KS.
Memorials may go towards the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Norma was a homemaker and active member of her church. She helped Leonard on the farm, raised a garden and sewed clothes for herself and family. In retirement she participated in EHU club activities and crocheted and tatted doilies which she shared with friends and relatives and displayed at the county fair. She enjoyed watching cardinals from her kitchen window and maintained a collection of cardinal curios thanks to family and friends. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, Kansas, with Pastor Lee Bennight officiating. Burial will follow in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Norma will lie in-state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
