Obituary

Norma Jane (Wagner) Schick, daughter of William and Alma (Preuss) Wagner was born on the family farm southwest of Stuttgart, Ks July 20, 1934. She passed away on September 19, 2025 at the age of 91 years old.

She was baptized August 12, 1934 at home and confirmed June 20, 1948 in the Lutheran faith at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, Ks.

She graduated from Phillipsburg High School with the class of 1951.

She was united in marriage to Max Paul Schick on October 10, 1954, at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Stuttgart, Ks. To this union five children were born William Frederick, Merlyn Dean, Anita Kay, Steven Paul and Nancy Ann.

After graduating from high school Norma worked for Ben Franklin's and in the treasurer's office at the Court House in Phillipsburg, Ks. When she married Max she stayed at home to raise their family. After they were all in school she began working for the Phillips County Home later becoming the Phillips County Retirement Center in the laundry department. She held this job for 40 years. Norma and Max enjoyed their time attending their children and grandchildren's activities. They also enjoyed going to polka dances and garage sales. She loved cooking and baking – especially cookies for the band kids.

Norma was preceded in death by her son William, her parents William and Alma Wagner, her sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Jim Mulder, and her brother and sister-in-law Milton and Arlene Wagner.

She is survived by her husband Max of the home, two sons Merlyn and Steven of Phillipsburg, Ks, two daughters Anita (Joel) Powell of Gretna, Ne, Nancy (Mike) Jenner of Prairie View, Ks, seven grandchildren Travis (Athena) Powell of Lakewood, Co, Trenton (Ashley) Powell of Le Mars, Ia, Tara Powell of Hutchinson, Ks, Trevor (Nichole) Jenner of Phillipsburg, Ks, Trista (Brandon) Cline of Mulvane, Ks, Tori Jenner of Overland Park, Ks and Toni Jenner of Thibodaux, La; nine great-grandchildren Callista, Caden, Amelia and Shayla Powell, Madison and Molly Powell, Nolan, Ryan and Easton Cline, and baby girl Jenner on the way, brother Ivan (Phyllis) Wagner of Phillipsburg, Ks and countless nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, KS, with Pastor Kathy Whitney officiating.  Burial will follow in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Schick will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with the family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening for visitation.
