Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Chanley, a beloved family man, devoted Pop, and cherished friend. Norman left us peacefully on March 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Norman was born and raised in Salem, Indiana, before moving to Kansas with his family in 1985, to be closer to Brenda's family, while enjoying a small town life.

A true family man, Norman found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was their biggest supporter, always ready with a warm hug, a listening ear, and a heart full of wisdom. The bond he shared with them will forever be etched in their hearts.

In addition to his family, Norman had a deep passion for woodworking, hunting, and helping out on the farm. He found solace in nature, often spending weekends on the farm driving the tractor and searching for deer. You could always find Norman in his garage working on wood projects or scratching lottery tickets on his front porch, while he waited for the rain.

Norm was also a valued member of the Tamko family, where he worked for 38 years. Taking on the role of a father figure and mentoring the red hats and passing on his knowledge.  He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and supported, creating a positive environment that fostered teamwork and camaraderie.

He is preceded in death by his parents Norman Lee and Eleanor Jane Chanley, and infant sister Tereasa Chanley.

Survivors include wife Brenda Chanley of the home, sons John David and wife Elizabeth of Emporia, Kansas, and Jeremy Chanley of Minnetonka, Minnesota, daughter Becky Stapel and husband Jason of Phillipsburg, Kansas, brothers Gary Chanley and wife Jeanann of Salem, Indiana, and Josh Chanley of Campbellsburg, Indiana, sisters Jean Durham and husband Brian of Campbellsburg, Indiana, and Debra Ann Billings of Sycamore, Ohio, step mother Betty Chanley of Campbellsburg, Indiana, as well as 8 grandchildren, Peyton, Macy, Alaina, Leah, Sadie, Cora, Clint, and Megan.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Huck Boyd Center, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Robert Wood officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ron Boeve Sr., Rotary Medical Expenses Fund.
