Opal Elaine Philbrick, daughter of Alvin and Rose (McDermed) Plymesser, was born July 9, 1920 near Kirwin, KS & passed from this life on March 31, 2011 at the Phillips County Retirement Center at the age of 90 years.
On May 24, 1941, Opal married Floyd H Philbrick in Phillipsburg. They were privileged to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25, 1991 with an open house at Westview Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years on November 3, 2002. Also preceeding her in death were her parents, sister Fern Lemon and a stillborn baby brother.

Survivors include her sister, Fairie Gaines of Phillipsburg. Opal will be greatly missed by her five nieces, Idris Shannon of Miltonvale, KS; Arlis Schild & husband Neil of Sacramento, CA; Doris Roat, Seward, KS, Sallie Jansonius & husband, John, Phillipsburg; and Connie Martin, Ft. Worth, Texas and the two nephews; Allan Lemon, Phillipsburg and AI Gaines & his wife Sheila of Smith Center. She is also survived by a host of great nieces & nephews.

Opal will be best remembered by her jovial nature & quick wit. She faithfully attended the Phillipsburg Church of the Nazarene for many years. Of particular pride and enjoyment for Opal were her meticulous yard and flower beds.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. A private burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Opal will lie in state from Noon until 9 P.M. Saturday & Sunday at the funeral home.
