Patricia was born on April 12, 1940, in Hydro, Oklahoma to Yulee Westley Odle and Erma Ruth (Lovelock) Odle. She was the youngest of six children. The family moved from Oklahoma to Kansas when Pat was very young. Most of her childhood was spent in Kansas around Phillips County. When Pat was 4 years old, they moved to California where many of her relatives lived. They stayed there about two years before moving back to Kansas. Pat passed away on May 4th, 2026, at the Phillips County Hospital surrounded by family.

Pat began her education at Red Top school house north of Phillipsburg. Grades 1 through 8 were all taught in the same room with one teacher. Pat was one of two first graders in that class. She continued school in Phillipsburg, graduating from High School in 1958.

In 1959, Pat married Robert (Bob) Reese and that marriage lasted 34 years until he died in an accident. Their marriage was blessed with two children, David Dale Reese and Susan Alane Reese (Newlan).

Pat was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Phillipsburg and Colorado Springs and attended Long Island Methodist Church after returning to Kansas. She enjoyed belonging to social clubs in Phillipsburg, Colorado Springs, and Long Island. She was employed at the Phillips County Hospital in the Dietary department for 30 years. She began as a cook’s helper, then head cook, and the last years she served as Food Service Supervisor after completing education to become certified.

Pat enjoyed crafts of all kinds, home improvement projects, stained glass, water and oil painting, gardening, and numerous other craft projects. She designed and helped build her and Bob’s home in Phillipsburg. Her father, Yulee, was the main carpenter since he was a professional builder. Yulee, Bob and several relatives and friends tore down two houses, saved all the lumber for rebuilding and built that home. They began the project in January of 1965 and moved into it in May of that year. They had some finishing work to complete after moving in.

After Pat retired from the hospital she met and married Roger L. Barnes. They lived together in Colorado Springs; Roger’s son, David Barnes, lived with them for several years. Roger’s daughter Luann became a bonus daughter to Pat. Pat attended the First Christian Church in Colorado Springs, and she attended a swim class 5 days a week for years as well as joining a canasta club and two Red Hat groups. They enjoyed many family visits over the years. Roger enjoyed crafts as well and the two of them filled their home with projects they made. Pat and Roger were married 20 years when he passed away in 2021.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Robert Reese and Roger Barnes; her parents, Yulee and Erma Odle; her mother-in-law, Grace Zink; her father-in-law, Harley Reese; two sisters Reta Belle Odle and Zola Fern Odle; and one brother, Wayne Austin Odle. She also lost three sisters-in-law, Connie Reese, Dorothy Odle, and Eleanor Odle; one brother-in-law, Tom Reese; two nephews, Thomas Jr. Reese and Westley Odle; and one niece, Tina Jo Reese.

Pat is survived by her son, David (and wife Dawnita) Reese of Phillipsburg, KS; daughter, Susan (and husband George) Newlan of Long Island, KS; bonus daughter, Luann Barnes (and husband Phil Burke) of Colorado; and bonus son, David Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Yapchanyk, Robert (and wife Erin) Reese, Emily (and husband Ryan) Schamber, Christopher Bruning, Michael Reese, Hannah Troutner, Jace (and fiancé Brittany) Smith, Nicholas (and wife Deanna) Smith, and Sean (and fiancé Toma) Newlan; and her great-grandchildren: Caleb Smith and Delia Reese (children of Robert and Erin), Paige and Asher Schamber (children of Emily and Ryan), Karlee Myers (and fiancé Bradlee Morris) and Kamryn Bruning (children of Christopher Bruning), Hendrix Jarvis (son of Hannah), Repp and Caleb Smith (children of Jace and Brittany), Cedric Legg and Anamelia Smith (children of Nicholas and Deanna); and her great-great-grandson, Kohen Morris (child of Karlee and Bradlee). Also left to grieve are two brothers Richard Odle and Eldon Odle.

Pat moved to Long Island after her husband Roger passed away and lived there with her daughter Susan and son-in-law George. She enjoyed the Tuesday morning coffee group in Long Island, and she found joy in renewing old friendships in this area.
