Patricia Louise Smith-Jussel, daughter of Harold Lester & Jane Lewann (Elliott) Sparks, was born April 17, 1956 in Aurora, Colorado, and passed away September 12, 2014 at the Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas at the age of 58.

Patti attended grade school and high school in Westminster, Colorado.

In 1973 she married Randall Collier and was blessed with the birth of a son, Casey.

She later celebrated the birth of a daughter, Melonie, during her marriage to Rod Smith.

Patti spent some time working as a waitress while raising her children on her own. She was a "people" person who loved to visit and who could make friends with anyone, and her caring spirit and sense of humor drew people to her. She was a loyal friend, always putting others' needs first and offering help wherever it was needed.

On July 13, 2007, she was united in marriage to James J. Jussel in Westminster, Colorado. The couple moved to Logan, Kansas in February, 2010.

Patti was the ultimate optimist, always seeing the "good" in people and focusing on the positive things in her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Her parents, Harold and Jane, and two brothers, Dennis and Robert Sparks, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, James, of the home in Logan; her son, Casey Collier, also of Logan; her daughter, Melonie Janssen & husband, David, of Ault, CO; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Patti will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Logan Funeral Home, Logan, with Pastor Ted Stapelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

Patti will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and again Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home.
