Obituary

Grace Pauline [Pfost] McKinley was born June 21, 1921 in Phillips County, Kansas and departed this
life June 29, 2015 at Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, Kansas, at the age of94 years. Pauline, as
she was known, was the youngest of three daughters born to Clyde Earnest Pfost and Lou Etta
[Patterson] Pfost. She was a lifelong resident of Phillips County and attended both the Cowley and
Kirwin School Districts. On March 27, 1941, Pauline married Russell Edwin McKinley, at Stockton,
Kansas. To this union two children were born, Karen Kaye and Larry Dale. Russell and Pauline were
engaged in the farming business and farmed in the Glade community until they retired and moved to
Phillipsburg in 1989.

Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She spent many hours cooking,
baking and entertaining family and friends. Two of her favorite things to do were traveling and playing
cards. She was fortunate enough to visit all 50 states as well as several countries in Europe and several
islands in the Caribbean. She loved country music and visited Nashville and Branson several times. She
enjoyed attending game nights at the Westview Center and Golden Years Senior Center; and belonged
to two canasta clubs as well.

Pauline was a member of the Glade United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women,
having held various offices. She was a charter member of the Solomon Valley EHU and had past
memberships in the Phillips County Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Retired Senior Volunteer
program and the Phillipsburg Hoe and Grow Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, her parents and her two sisters Beulah Gaines
and Murial Lee.

Left to morn are her daughter, Karen Williams, of Phillipsburg and son Larry McKinley and wife
Esther of Glade; 4 grandchildren: Elizabeth Williams, Huntley, Illinois; William Williams and
friend Jeani Pocha, Phillipsburg, Kansas; Sheila Goscha and husband Terry of Hutchinson, Kansas,
and Lisa Bowker and husband Nathan of Greeley, Colorado; 2 step-grandchildren; 7 great-
grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchildren; 2 step-great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Rev. Lew Van Der Wege officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Mrs. McKinley will lie in-state on Wednesday, July 1, from noon – 9 p.m. and again Thursday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
