Phyllis Ann (Nichol) Brumbaugh, daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Jameson) Nichol was born September 6, 1927 in Graham County, near Hill City, KS and passed away on November 3, 2015 at the Logan Manor Nursing Home, Logan, KS at the age of 88. Phyllis graduated from Hill City Memorial High School in 1945. She then graduated from Fort Hays State College in 1949 with a degree in home economics.
On January 14, 1951, Phyllis was united in marriage to Ramon Kent Brumbaugh in Plainville, KS. To this union, four children were born. The couple made their home and farmed north of Hill City. In 1961, they built a new home on her grandparents' homestead south of Logan. They farmed there until retiring to Logan in 1989. Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother, a devoted farm wife, a substitute teacher, church pianist, Sunday school teacher, PTA and 4-H leader. Phyllis enjoyed her family and friends, sewing, crocheting, gardening, reading & crossword puzzles. After retiring to Logan, Phyllis played the piano for the Logan Manor residents for 19 years.
Phyllis is survived by her four children: Craig & wife Barbara of Logan, KS; Gordon & wife Lilliana of New Plymouth, ID; Arnold of Phillipsburg, KS; Lori & husband Rick Klein of Fort Collins, CO. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kent in 1995 and her brother Duane Nichol in 2015.
Mama, you held our hands for a short time, but you hold our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Logan Christian Church, Logan, KS with Pastor Troy Buss officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
Mrs. Brumbaugh will lie in-state on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5-9 p.m. and again Friday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home in Logan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Logan Manor.
