Obituary

Rachel Dee (Krauss) Morris-Rundle, daughter of Oliver and Margaret (Schesser) Krauss, was born March 16, 1928 on a farm 6 miles southwest of Logan, Kansas in Norton County, died Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the age of 88. When Rachel was 5 years old they moved to a farm 7 miles south and east of Logan. During that time she attended Red Star Country School through the 8th grade and then attending Logan High School until graduation in 1946. After graduation she attended Fort Hays State College summer school to become certified to teach school. Upon certification she taught country school at Pleasant Hill for one year.

On April 28, 1947 she was married to Dale H. Morris, Jr. They had two sons, James L. and Dilman D. They lived and raised their sons on a farm south of Logan until Dale died April 30, 1986.

Rachel enjoyed playing the piano for choir and solos in High School and later at the Logan Manor for activities and church services.

She took an active part in Church and 4-H while her children and Grandchildren were growing up. She also taught Sunday School and played the piano for the Sunday School. She continued using her teacher certification by substitute teaching in the Logan elementary school system.

She belonged to Home Extension Club and ABC Club as well as the Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed her kids, grandkids, great grandkids as well as her step children, and step grandchildren.

Her hobbies included working with ceramics, quilting, reading, playing piano and working in the yard caring for her flowers and garden and playing cards at the senior citizens center.

Rachel married John (Jack) Rundle January 5, 1991. Rachel and Jack enjoyed going on bus tours before their health prevented it. Jack died September 2, 2010.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale, and husband, Jack; 3 brothers: Rod, Raymond and Harold Krauss; sister-in-law, Dorothea Plunkett; and Step son, John Rundle.

Survivors include her two sons, James and wife Margaret of Logan, KS & Dilman & wife Barbara of Garden Plain, KS; sisters, Roberta Cupples & husband, Chet of Escondido, CA & Helen Hager & husband, Ronald of Norton, KS; Sister's-in-law Virginia Krauss of Sacramento, CA & Lois Krauss of Norton, KS; Step- Daughter's-in-law Carolyn Rundle, Tim & Noreen Rundle, David Rundle, Mike Rundle, James & Cindy Rundle, Leland & Christina Rundle, Shirley & Rick Mendoza, Kathleen & Gary Brewster; 3 Grandchildren; 19 step Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and step Great Grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Logan, KS with Pastors Ted Stapleton & Kelly Cupples officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.

Mrs. Rundle will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for visitation at the Logan Funeral Home, 102 E. Church St., Logan, KS 67646.
