Obituary

Ralph H. Fink lost his battle with cancer at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska surrounded by his beloved family on February 8, 2020.

Ralph was born January 5, 1945 in Smith Center, Kansas to Edward L. Sr. and Martha (Huskey) Fink. Ralph was raised in Agra, Kansas and graduated from Eastern Heights High School in 1964. After high school Ralph worked for Vern Westbrook a local contractor and a harvest crew before beginning his 43 year career with Bear Brand/Royal Brand today known as TAMKO Roofing Products on January 2, 1968. Ralph was drafted later in 1968 and served two years for the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.  When he returned home he resumed his employment with TAMKO Roofing Products making shingles and served as a foreman for most of his 43 year career.

Ralph was married to Gayle Chenault in 1970 in Fredonia, Kansas and they made their home in Phillipsburg. To this union two girls were born Lisa and Aimee. Ralph and Gayle later divorced.  In 1979, Ralph met Sheila (Linton) Roth and her children Sonja, Stacy and Lonnie. Mom always joked that she knew he was "the one" when he brought her a dozen red roses and mowed the lawn. The couple married on June 14, 1980 in Phillipsburg and joined their families as one.

Ralph enjoyed fishing and a little hunting to help put food on the table. It didn't matter what he brought home but Mom would fry it up and serve it as Dad would say, "It's good, tastes just like chicken", but there wasn't anything Mom would put on the table that Dad didn't think was good.

Ralph was known for his huge garden every summer, he loved filling the cart on his 4 wheeler to take produce and baked goods Sheila would make around to the neighbors.  In addition to neighbors, family and friends, he also made sure the church ladies were supplied with produce all summer long. The kids and grandkids couldn't leave their home without taking some great big tomatoes, cucumbers, onions or zucchini with them.

Ralph truly enjoyed the trips he and Sheila took to Colorado to visit his brother Lewis and wife Carolyn.  Louise's grandson Talon sure took a liking to Great Uncle Ralph and they were best buds!  Ralph and Sheila enjoyed going to the Wellness Center every morning and the great friendships this cultivated.

Ralph loved cars so when his grandkids were driving age he talked Mom into buying a new Chrysler Crossfire and he would beam with pride every time they would ask to use it for Prom or Homecoming Parades for his granddaughters or others to ride in.

Ralph truly lived to support his family, working twelve hour days and enjoying all of his children's weddings and grandkids' events and school functions.

Ralph is survived by his wife Sheila of 39 years; son Lonnie Fink and wife Wendy of Phillipsburg; daughters Sonja Kinter and husband Shane of Phillipsburg, Lisa Fink of Omaha, NE, Stacy Solida and husband Jeff of Phillipsburg, and Aimee Weinbrenner and husband Bryan of Inman, Kansas; grandchildren Kendra (Kinter) Copeland and husband Ross, Dylan Kinter, Heaven Fink, Kourtney Bremmon, Isabelle and Breanna Filarecki, Bethany (Solida) Rachow and husband Thomas, Lindsey (Solida) Juenemann and husband Riley, Logan, Alivia and Valorie Solida, Danielle (Slack) Tien and husband Austin, Jaysa (Fink) Ewing and husband Hunter, Dakota Slack, Jacee and Allyson Weinbrenner; and several nieces and nephews.
