Ralph S. Hatfield of Phillipsburg Kansas passed Monday February 14, 2011.
He was born July 18, 1929 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Harry P. and Lulu M. Hatfield. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947 and was a machinist in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was married to Anna Nadine Stout of Hutchinson from 1952 to 1969 where they moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1957 and he took a position with Scientific Radio's and worked as a machinist in the development of the quarts crystal radio communication system in the early years of NASA. In 1969 he Moved to Garden City, Kansas and worked with quality control at Ulysses Irrigation and later worked at Garden City Community College in the maintenance division, where he retired. He returned to Loveland for a few years and then moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas in 2004.
He spent his pleasure time restoring antique cars and enjoyed scale model railroad. He enjoyed working on the club layout at the End of the Line hobby shop in Stockton, Kansas. He was known in Phillipsburg and Stockton as the man who drove the little blue Smart car.
He is survived by Daughter's Jennice Michaud and companion Scott Harris of Fort Collins, Colorado; Sharron Straka and husband David of Loveland, Colorado. Brother George Hatfield, 91 of Sutter Creek, California. Grandaughters Wendy Michaud and companion Alan Mentzer; Julie Miller and husband Joe of Loveland, Colorado. Great grandson's Sebastian and Wesley Mentzer of Loveland, Colorado. Merlin Stout and wife Lea of Newton, Kansas. Nephew's and Niece's. Friends Roger McFetridge, his wife and family of Loveland, Colorado and Marian Conyac and husband of Stockton, Kansas.
Cremation has been conducted. No services are planned.
