IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randy D.
Conrad
April 17, 1951 – February 14, 2021
Phillipsburg resident Randy Dean Conrad passed away at his home on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 69.
He was born April 17, 1951 in Portis, KS the son of Ollie and Eva (Hagadorn) Conrad. At the age of 13 he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, but this didn't stop Randy from being an ornery teenager. Randy loved to ride motorcycles in the hills of Gaylord, pull pranks with his best friend Gary Sears, and tinker on any vehicle he could. He graduated from Smith Center High School in 1969 and later from NCK Vo-Tech in Beloit in auto mechanics.
Randy was united in marriage to Colleen Welborn on June 22, 1974 in Clyde, KS. To this union five children were born: Wyatt, Wade, Alissa, Webb, and Ashley. The couple later divorced.
The couple moved to Phillipsburg where Randy worked at Matteson Motors, Saunders, Ryder, and for KDOT. Randy never turned down the opportunity to work on a car or motorcycle, whether it was his own, a friend, or a strangers. He was always there cheering on his kids through all their sports and academic endeavors. If he could find someone to chat with about a car, his day was made. He was always friendly and smiled at anyone passing by.
Randy was an active member of the Wesleyan Church and always participated in their Trunk or Treat on Halloween. He enjoyed shooting and hunting, especially when he was able to share that time with his children and grandchildren. He loved showing off his Road Runner and participated in many car shows and parades.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Lawrence and Rex; and a brother-in-law Dean Eller.
Survivors include his sons Wyatt and wife Shelly of Wimauma, FL, Wade and wife Jessica of Norfolk, VA, and Webb and wife Brittani of Phillipsburg; daughters Alissa Conaway and husband Travis of Smith Center and Ashley Thomas and husband Kurt of Phillipsburg; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; former wife Colleen Conrad of Phillipsburg; sister Cindy Rumsey and husband Jim of Woodland Park, CO; sisters-in-law Connie Ross and husband Ken of Rapid City, SD and Marjorie Conrad of Gaylord, KS.
He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Wesleyan Church in Phillipsburg with Pastor Randy Garner officiating. The funeral services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Gaylord Cemetery, Gaylord.
