Raymond Burlie Griffith was born September 21, 1933, to Burlie and Ellen (Christiansen) Griffith, on the family farm one mile south of Lebanon, KS. Raymond passed away Nov. 13, 2024, in the Phillips County Hospital, at the age of 91.
Raymond served with the United States Marine Corp for three years during the Korean Conflict. Raymond was a Charter Member of The Marine Corp League. He and Ruth Bock were united in marriage, in Lebanon, KS, on May 17, 1953. Raymond and Ruth were BLESSED (?) with three children.
Raymond spent 39 years working for the Kansas Department of Transportation, mostly in Phillips County. During retirement, Raymond and Ruth enjoyed doing woodcrafts and traveling throughout the U.S.A..
Raymond is survived by his bride of 71 years, Ruth, children: Deb (Delaine) Thomas of Prairie View, Kenny (Deb) of Goodland, and Toby of Phillipsburg. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, sister, Ruth Warner of Lebanon, as well as adopted son, Andy Gibson of Kirwin, Granddog Luke, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life service for Raymond will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the First Christian Church, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Kenny and David Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the North Oak Creek Cemetery, South of Lebanon, Kansas, with military honors by the United States Marine Corps.
Friends may sign the book on Sunday from 12 p.m.to 9 p.m., and Monday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday evening, at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Omaha, NE.
