Phillips County resident, Raymond L. Hanes, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his residence in rural Phillips County at the age of 79. Raymond Lee Hanes was born September 28, 1946, in rural Phillps County, KS, to his parents Francis and Norma (Romjue) Hanes.
He was united in marriage to Esther McCorkle on May 20, 1967. To this union 2 children were born Lisa and Leroy. The couple later divorced. On June 26, 1976, he was married to Sheryl Rosenberg and to this union a son Jared was born. On May 26, 2005, he was united in marriage to Sarahjayne Yeaman.
Raymond had a passion for his cattle, farming, trucking, hunting, and riding motorcycles. Also, he enjoyed watching grandkids and great grandkids in their activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Norma; his second wife Sheryl; and brother Paul Hanes.
Survivors include his wife Sarahjayne of rural Phillipsburg, daughter Lisa Capps of Phillipsburg; sons Leroy Hanes and wife Siobahn of Alachua, FL; Jared Hanes and wife Meaghan of Berthoud, CO; stepson Jon Yeaman and wife Kara of Denver, NC; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Jay Brandon officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Phillips County, KS.
Mr. Hanes will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel for visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips County E.M.S. or Hospice Services.
