Obituary

Regina "Gina" Lou Wood, age 53, of Phillipsburg KS, was called home on February 20, 2011 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Gina was born on June 11, 1957 in Plainville, Kansas to Leonard and Lorine (Brunson) Pfortmiller. Her parents later made their home in Stuttgart and Gina graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1975.
She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Wood on May 31, 1975 at the Lutheran Church in Stockton. Gina and Bob made their home in Phillips County, eventually moving to Phillipsburg in 1987. They were blessed with the gift of five sons: Taitum, Eric, Curtis, Kalvin, and Zachary. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Gina loved spending time outdoors in the garden, caring for her grandchildren, playing the piano, reading and cooking.
She was a life long Lutheran and was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, serving as Director of the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Christmas Program and a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Gina graduated from Colby Community College with an Associate degree in Applied Science, with an emphasis in Psychology. She was employed by High Plains Mental Health in Phillipsburg as a Case Manager.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorine Pfortmiller.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Wood; her sons, Taitum (Deana) Wood of Fleming, CO; Eric Wood of Stuttgart, KS; Curtis (Jessica) Wood, also of Fleming, CO; Kalvin (Sherisa) Wood of Phillipsburg and Zachary Wood, also of Phillipsburg; eleven grandchildren: Kaleb and Peyton Wood; Seth Wood; Kylie and Alexie Wood; Weston, Ross, Rachel, Isaac and Audrey Coomes; and Kodie Wood; her father, Leonard Pfortmiller of Stuttgart; brothers Richard (Judy) Hite of Holdredge, NE and Timothy (Diane) Pfortmiller of Bella Vista, AR; sister, Yolonda (Randy) Moll of Gentry, AR; and brothers Phillip Pfortmiller and Matthew Pfortmiller, both of Stuttgart.

Funeral services will be held Thurs. Feb 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Burial will follow in the First Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Regina Wood Medical Expense Fund, the Food Pantry or High Plains Mental Health.

The casket will be closed. Friends may sign the book from 5 to 9 Tuesday & 9 to 9 Wed. at the funeral home.
