Obituary

Reno Devere Hildebrand was born February 13, 1937 in Hill City to Earl and Mildred (Morgan) Hildebrand, and left this life on November 11, 2017 peacefully at his home in Logan.
He grew up on a farm in Graham County and graduated from Hill City High School.
Reno was united in marriage to the love of his life, Charlene Blackford, on October 5, 1958. This union was blessed with four children, David, Susan, Karen and Nancy. The family moved from rural Graham County to make their home in Logan in December of 1973. After the move to Logan, Reno proudly served as a volunteer fireman for 35 years, member of the United Methodist Church, and a city council member.
Throughout the years, Reno worked on the family farms, pumped oil wells, worked construction, and retired as head of maintenance for Logan schools. During his construction years (1968-1985), he built Behlen Buildings, elevator legs, a lot of general construction and had the unique opportunity to construct a couple of dome buildings, which he was very proud of. After retirement, Reno enjoyed driving a school bus and taking sight-seeing bus trips with Charlene. One of his favorites was getting to visit Gettysburg on the New York and Washington D.C. trip.
Reno loved fishing, gardening, spending time with his family and singing along to the hymns during church. Some of his most treasured memories were his trips to Colorado and Canada with the Boy Scouts and his annual fishing trip to Antelope Lake with David and Zach.
Anyone who ever knew him, knew he was always willing to lend a hand when it was needed. Helping others and the value of hard work were some of the most important lessons he taught his children.
Reno was faced with numerous health challenges in the last few years of his life. He met these challenges head-on with a smile on his face and typically a smart remark (another thing he passed on to his kids).
Reno was preceded in death by his parents. He will be missed deeply by his family: his wife, Charlene, of the home, four children: David Hildebrand and Karen Hildebrand both of Logan, Susan Dilbeck of Weatherford, OK and Nancy (Bill) Brown of Manhattan. Eight grandkids and seven great-grandkids.
He is also survived by a brother, Darrel (Charlene) Hildebrand of Longmont, Co, a sister, Elsie (Willis) Brandyberry of Hill City, sister-in-law Shelia Blackford of Hill City and brother-in-law Robert Blackford of Larned.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. in the Logan United Methodist Church with Pastor Ted Stapleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill City Cemetery, Hill City.
