Phillipsburg resident, Richard Ehm, passed away at his home Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the age of 62.
He was born December 10, 1947 in Phillipsburg, the son of Arthur John & Alice Marie (Beckmann) Ehm.
Richard graduated from the Phillipsburg High School in 1965. He then went to Kansas City to an Auto Trade School. Following trade school, he joined the Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1969.
After his discharge from the service, Richard returned to Kansas City and worked as a Crane Operator at a Phillips 66 Refinery. He moved back to Phillipsburg in 2004, after the death of his mother.
Richard enjoyed hunting with his family and buddies from Kansas City. Many a morning he would drive around his land in the country looking for that coyote he was always hoping to shoot.
He really enjoyed watching nature, fiddling with his Kubota tractor and little SUV truck, fixing fence and cutting down trees around his pasture. The last few years Richard's illness slowed him down some, but he still continued working on his guns and driving the countryside looking for that elusive coyote.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Melvin Paul Ehm.
Survivors include his brother, Donald Ehm of Phillipsburg; a sister, Betty Placone of Mesa, Arizona; an aunt, Leta Luzar, of Shawnee, KS; an uncle, Maynard Beckmann, of Gaylord, KS; and nieces & nephews.
Richard will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Shelly Klingensmith officiating. Burial followed in Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Stuttgart.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
