Robert DeBoer, son of Ren and Tonia (VanLoenen) DeBoer, was born October 1, 1916 in Phillips County, Kansas near Prairie View. He passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Logan Manor Nursing Home in Logan, Kansas at the age of 94 years.
On March 14, 1941, Robert was united in marriage to Edna Earle Elkinton in Prairie View. They made their home in Limon, Colorado and various other places, but made their final home back in Prairie View. To this union three children were born, Richard Bernard, Robert Eugene and Sandra Rae.
Robert was a hard worker. He worked as a Brakeman for the Rock Island Railroad, he was a farmer, and until his retirement worked as a heavy equipment operator for Phillips County.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Edna Earle; sons, Richard & Robert; daughter, Sandra; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann; his parents; and two brothers, John & William.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Carolyn DeBoer; two granddaughters, Tina Marie & Kaila Deann DeBoer, all of Colby; a sister, Wilma (DeBoer) Hogan of Long Island, KS; plus nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Prairie View Reformed Church, Prairie View, KS with Pastor Dean Gilbert officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
