Obituary

Phillipsburg resident, Robert (Bob) Munyon, passed away Nov. 30, 2021, at the Phillips County Hospital with his family by his side. He was born July 13, 1957, in Phillipsburg, the son of Don & Gayle (Frans) Munyon.

Bob attended Phillipsburg High School, graduating with the class of 1975. He participated in football, track, and choir. Bob loved history and his dream job was to become a history teacher. While in high school, he enjoyed working at Miles Furniture and after graduation, Bob headed to Texas to work in the refineries learning to become a pipefitter like his dad.

Bob married Linda Lewis on February 3, 1989, in California and they were married for 25 years.  Bob enjoyed his pet dogs and birds and listening to music. He was also an avid sports fan rooting for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

In California, Bob helped his wife with her catering business for several years.  He also worked as a steamfitter for Local Union 342 traveling to several states including Maine, New York, and Colorado. In December 2020, he was forced to quit when he came down with double pneumonia. Bob spent 10 months in hospitals before returning to Phillipsburg with his brothers in October to begin his rehabilitation. Unfortunately, pneumonia returned just a week after being released from the hospital and he spent his last days in the loving care of the Phillips County Health Systems nursing staff and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Gayle; grandparents Lloyd and Ruth Frans and Roy and Grace Munyon; and nephew Cory Munyon.

He is survived by his brothers, Stan and wife, Kim, of Phillipsburg, and Lance and wife, Lisa, of Phillipsburg. Three nephews, Luke Munyon and wife, Michelle of Glencoe, OK; Jake Munyon of Springfield, MO; and Alex Beim and wife, Ketino of Phillipsburg, KS. Two aunts and an uncle, Betty Berney of Phillipsburg and Linda and Neal Roth of rural Phillipsburg; several cousins and a host of friends.
