Robert Holbrook, Sr. of Marysville, Kansas, formerly of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away April 30, 2013 at Cambridge Place Nursing Home in Marysville at the age of 80.
Robert was born August 9, 1932 in Agra, Kansas to Clarence and Ada (Randall) Holbrook. He attended Agra Public School until 8th grade. Following school, Robert helped rebuild the Agra School building that burned down. He also worked at the grain elevator in Phillipsburg, Kansas and the salvage yard in Salina, Kansas. He moved to Chicago, Illinois to work for Crane Packaging as a Parts Polisher in the 50's and 60's.
On November 27, 1966 Robert and Dianna Kay Wilson were united in marriage in Seattle, Washington. They made their home in Cozad, Nebraska, where Robert was employed at several different jobs over the years: Tenneco Auto Equipment Co., the Evans Bakery, Walker Roofing and then Paulsen, where he retired at age 62.
Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In February, 2012 he moved to Marysville, Kansas to be closer to his family. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan and enjoyed watching WWE Wrestling, Law & Order, and CSI on television. He also enjoyed fishing with his children.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Ruby Cristian May, Dorothy Louise Campbell, and Delva Deann Bauman; five brothers: Glenn Aurther, Owen Richard, Orville Clarence, Raymond Lee and Earl Franklin.
He is survived by three sons: Robert Holbrook, Jr. and Terry Holbrook, both of Marysville, KS and Larry Holbrook of Bartlesville, OK; two daughters: Tammy Holbrook of Kearney, NE and Monica LaCost & husband, Jamie, of Frankfort, KS; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Arnold Holbrook of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters: Mildred Gibson of Gothenburg, NE, Ethel Weems of Hutchinson, KS and Nada Craig of Meade, KS; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Jay Wood Officiating. Burial Will follow in the Agra Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the Robert Holbrook Memorial Fund.
