Robert Gerald Withington, 76, of Tonganoxie, KS (former resident of Logan, KS) passed away with his family by his side on Monday, July 9th, 2018 at the Providence Hospital in Kansas City, KS.
He was born August 23, 1941 in Densmore, KS, son of the late Leo and Nola (Smith) Withington.
Robert was a 1959 graduate of Logan High School. He attended Wichita Barber School and operated the Logan Barber Shop on Wednesday nights. On June 30, 1963 he married Hilda (Brooks) Withington.
After retiring from Dane G. Hansen Oil, he opened a full-time Barber Shop in Phillipsburg, KS. In 2013, Robert became a full time retiree. He moved to Tonganoxie, KS with his wife, Hilda, where he enjoyed spending time and attending the activities of his seven grandchildren.
Survivors include his three children and their spouses: Troy and Tu Withington of Raytown, MO; Elizabeth and Shane Bacon of Bonner Springs, KS; and Mindy and Chad Cormier of Bonaparte, IA; seven grandchildren: Henry, Mimi and Walter Withington; Kennedy and Reese Bacon; and Brooklynn and Annabelle Cormier; sister Wanda and Don DeBeer of Thornton, CO, and brother Lynn and Carolyn Withington of Norton, KS. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Renea; sister, Dorothy Worcester; and two brothers-in-law, Brad Ubben and Dale Brooks.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, Logan, KS with Rev. Delbert Stanton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
Mr. Withington will lie in-state on Thursday from noon – 9 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home.
