Rose Marie Van Patten, 70, of Almena, Kansas, passed away on July 20, 2026, at Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas.

Rose was born on August 4, 1955, in Owosso, Michigan, to Floyd Arthur and Thelma Louise (Yoder) Anderson. During her childhood, her family relocated first to Florida and later to Kansas, where she attended school from the fifth grade onward.

Rose graduated from Northern Valley High School with the Class of 1974. On February 8, 1975, she was united in marriage to Anthony "Tony" Van Patten at the Norton Catholic Church in Norton, Kansas. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and serving others.

Following her marriage, Rose pursued her passion for nursing by attending Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) credential in 1991 and completed her Registered Nurse (RN) degree in 1992. Rose began her nursing career at Norton County Hospital, where she worked for one year before joining the staff at Logan Manor in Logan, Kansas. She faithfully served the residents of Logan Manor for 25 years, providing compassionate care and making a lasting difference in the lives of countless patients, families, and coworkers.

Rose will be remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to her profession, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.

Rose is preceded in death by her son Mark Van Patten, parents Floyd and Thelma, brothers Richard and Floyd, and sister Ruthann.

Survivors include her husband Tony Van Patten of Almena, Kansas, sons Ben Van Patten of Phillipsburg, and Matt Van Patten and wife Hilary of Almena, Kansas, and sister Carol Denehy and husband John of Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Cremation was planned.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Dan Dilley officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, in Almena, Kansas.

Friends and relatives may sign the book on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives for a visitation on Friday, July 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
