Obituary

Roxie Jo (Hoover) Hudson, 69, passed away peacefully March 7, 2018, at St. John Medical Center. Her daughter Tina was by her side.
Roxie was born Oct. 13, 1948, in Phillipsburg, Kan., to John P. and Lela Marie (Ross) Hoover. She was one of five children. She had four brothers, Ron, Ed, Doug and Rob. She married Warren Bruning in April 1967, and Waldean (Dean) Fay Hudson in July 1973. She was preceded in death by Dean in 1996, and her brother Rob in 2006.

She is survived by her children Robin, Roger, Rose, Randy, Tina and Jason, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

For most of her life Roxie lived in Phillips County and Smith County, Kansas. She considered this home. She went to nursing school at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., and worked primarily as an OB and OR nurse at the Phillips County Hospital where she touched innumerable lives. She retired in August 2003, and shortly after moved to Cowlitz County. She soon went back to work, finding employment as an RN in the Dialysis Unit of PeaceHealth St. John where she was highly regarded. She retired from St. John in 2015.
Roxie drove her RV to Arizona where she planned to spend winters. Unfortunately, she fell ill soon after and spent the next couple of years battling multiple health problems.

Roxie was devoted to her family and even though she was far away from many of them, she remained interested in and involved with their lives. She was always more interested in what they were doing than in sharing what she had been up too. She was a hard-working, generous, caring and loving woman who could also be tough when necessary, but was forgiving to a fault. She was the best of us.

Aside from family she enjoyed RV camping, sightseeing, and her cherished dog, Jazzy.
