Obituary

Ruby June Werner passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, Ks., under the care of Hospice Services. The daughter of John Andrew and Ruth Naomi (Ritter) Robinson, Ruby was born June 18, 1931 on a farm in northern Phillips County. She graduated from high school in Phillipsburg in May 1949 and worked as a waitress at the E & M Café.

Ruby was united in marriage to Donald Lovelle Werner on October 19, 1950 in Kensington, and they made their home on a farm south of Kirwin where they spent their entire life together. Don and Ruby were excited to add two children to their lives, Randall Lynn and Brenda Jo.

Ruby found contentment helping on the farm and especially loved to toil in her garden and flower beds. She was an excellent seamstress and cook who was always concerned for the welfare of others. Her door was always open and everyone was welcomed by her contagious smile and warm heart. Most importantly Ruby was a good mother and grandmother. She especially found joy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruby eventually moved to Phillipsburg to be closer to her family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Donald Lovelle Werner on December 20, 2000; her parents; brothers: Leonard Merle, John Edgar, Jimmie Lee, and Jerry Adair Robinson; and two other siblings at birth.

In addition to Randy and Brenda, other survivors include brother, Robert D. and wife Geri Robinson; grandchildren, Timothy Lee Werner and Shanea Wyatt, and Kyle Randall Werner; great-grandchildren: Landon Riley, Layton Reese and Brielle LeeAnn Werner; brother-in-law Leonard L. Werner; and sisters-in-law, Bernus Werner and Ruth Werner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation was planned. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
