Sandi Nix passed away on March 24, 2025, at the Solomon Valley Manor, in Stockton, Kansas, at the age of 75.

Sandi was born on July 27, 1949. She was 75 years old and would have turned 76 later this year. In recent years, she battled Alzheimer's or a form of dementia—I'm not sure which diagnosis she had exactly. Many of you may not remember her well, as the last Nix Family Reunion she was able to attend was in 2017, in Hill City, South Dakota. It was shortly after that gathering, she began to show signs of the disease.

A few months later, she moved from Mississippi to Kansas to live with her oldest daughter, Debbie Sander. As her condition progressed, and she could no longer care for herself-and since both Debbie and her husband Wayne were still working-Sandi eventually moved into a nursing home.

Sandi married young—just 15 years old—to Larry Little, with whom she had two daughters: Debbie and Lisa. She was later married twice more, though she had no additional children. At the time of her passing, she was a proud grandmother of seven and great-grandmother to six.

Though her life had many hardships-including an early marriage, limited education, and financial struggles-Sandi remained a vibrant, outgoing woman who loved life deeply. She didn't let the challenges she faced keep her from seeing the world through a hopeful lens. She found joy in books— reading thousands over the years and escaping into imagined adventures she couldn't afford to take in real life. She also dabbled in writing during her younger years.

Following her third divorce, she legally returned to the name she was born with: Sandra Jean Nix. And it was later changed to simply Sandi Nix and that's how she left this world.

Sandi is preceded in death by her father Eugene Nix.

She is survived by her mother, Edith Nix; her brothers, Jerry and Ed; her daughters, Debbie and Lisa; her seven grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating.

Friends and relatives may sign the book on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
