Shirley June (Shirk) Lingbloom, 87, of Phillipsburg, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.

Born on October 12, 1938, in Quenemo, Kansas, Shirley was the daughter of Alonzo and Flossie (Johnson) Shirk. After the passing of her mother, she was lovingly raised in Smith Center by her Aunt Ermyl and Uncle Lincoln Strong. She graduated high school in 1956 and soon after met and married Norman Dean Haas. Together they welcomed three daughters: Pamela Sue, Julie Janette, and Stephanie May.

As a Navy wife for many years, Shirley lived wherever Norman was stationed, including several memorable years in Sasebo, Japan, before returning to the United States.

Following her divorce from Norman, Shirley met and married Gary Wanner. They were blessed with one son, Dustin Lee. During this time, Shirley worked at Peterson Industries in Smith Center, building cabinets for campers.

Later in life, Shirley married Ray Lingbloom, welcoming his two daughters, Rachelle Richmond and Cindy Ahlers, into her family. She and Ray made their home in Phillipsburg, where she worked at Whites I.G.A. and later at the Phillipsburg Elementary School. More than anything, Shirley cherished the years she and Ray spent on the open road, traveling the highways together in their truck—a shared adventure that brought her joy, purpose, and a deep sense of freedom.  

Shirley was also an avid BINGO player. If there was a game to be found, she was there, enjoying the camaraderie and excitement it brought.

Survivors include her daughters Pamela Padilla and her husband, David, and Stephanie Breon and her husband, Kerry, all of Phillipsburg; stepdaughters Rachelle Richmond and Cindy Ahlers; six grandchildren; and five great‑grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Gary Wanner and Ray Lingbloom; infant daughter Julie Janette Haas; son Dustin Lee Wanner; grandson Jeffrey Lee Wanner; brothers Wayne, Dean and Everett; and sister Ermyl Lawrence.

Shirley will be remembered for her resilience, her devotion to family, and the joy she found in travel, work, and the simple pleasures of life. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation was planned. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, KS.
