Obituary

Todd Jay Lappin was born in Logan, Kansas, to Blaine and Betty (Grieb) Lappin on July 1, 1957 and passed away on May 17, 2025, in Kearney, Nebraska following a short illness.

Todd was raised in Logan, where he developed many enduring friendships and a love for all sports, especially fishing.  After high school, Todd attended Ft. Hays State in Kansas and DeVry Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering.  He found employment in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, where he lived for many years. During this time, he welcomed the lights of his life, his children Monica and Keith.

Most recently, Todd lived in the Santa Cruz Mountains where he enjoyed hiking and spending time with friends.  Todd especially appreciated the time he spent fishing with his lifelong friend from Kansas, Paul Grammon, including an unforgettable trip they took to Alaska.

Recently, Todd was blessed to proudly attend the weddings of both of his children.  Monica and Claudio married in October, 2023 and Keith and Kirsten were married in April, 2024.

Todd was excited to attend his 50th high school graduation reunion last week in Logan, in order to spend time with his many friends from the area.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Logan ambulance service, the Phillipsburg ambulance service, the Phillipsburg hospital and the many dedicated staff members at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, for their kind and considerate care for Todd and those who love him.

Todd was predeceased by his parents, Blaine and Betty, and, brother, Robert.  He is survived by his loving children, Monica Rose Lappin and her husband, Claudio Ciardiello, and son, Keith Alan Lappin and his wife, Kirsten Lappin; his brother, Daryl and wife, Joan; sister, Penny Estvold and husband, Mike; sister Shelley Pyle and husband Jeff; brother, Tab Lappin; and sister, Hayley Becker and husband, Mitch. Todd is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friends, Paul and Debra Grammon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you contribute to The National Park Foundation.  A funeral service celebrating Todd's life will be held at the Logan Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, with Pastor Scott Eller officiating. The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel facebook page.
