Donald Todd Lumpkin, son of Don and Jo Ann Lumpkin, was born March 10, 1964. He passed away peacefully on September 12, 2017 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS. He was 53 years young.
Todd grew up in Phillipsburg where he attended school and graduated with the Phillipsburg High School class of 1982. He enrolled in classes at the University of Kansas in Lawrence and after a year, transferred to Fort Hays University in Hays. He returned to Phillipsburg to work in the family grocery store until it sold.
On August 18, 1992 he began his career at Norton Correctional Facility in Norton, KS, where he worked until his health forced him to resign. He held several positions while there, but his favorite job was that of Training Specialist. Todd enjoyed teaching and mentoring his work family. He was especially fond of teaching chemical agents and was always excited for pepper spray day. He served on several committees for NCF, was a member of S.O.R.T. for many years, and Assistant Chief on the original Fire Team.
Todd was united in marriage to Darcie Reese on June 4, 1995. This union was blessed with three children: Mackenzie, Chelsea, and Donovan.
He was fond of cooking, gardening, and canning. In addition to being a computer enthusiast, he was also a gamer of all kinds, and didn't mind taking a chance gambling. Todd had a gift for debate, particularly politics and religion. Hunting and fishing were both passions of his, and he assisted with Hunters Safety Education for a few years. Todd was a volunteer fireman in Kirwin, KS for many years. He followed his Grand Dad and Dads footsteps and joined the Masonic Lodge AF & Am #184, where he served as Grand Master His true love was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandson.
His parents, Don and Jo Ann, and sister Michelle, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Darcie, son, Donovan, and daughter Chelsea, all of Phillipsburg; daughter Mackenzie and grandson Zander, both of Hays, KS; his sister Lisa Millan, of Norton, KS; an Uncle, nieces, nephews, in laws, and many long-time friends.
Funeral services will be held Sat. Sept. 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Lew VanDerWege officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 Thursday and 9:00 to 9:00 Friday at the funeral home.
