Obituary

Trina LuAnn (Powers) Minkler, 49, passed away January 23, 2023, surrounded by her family at Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, KS, after losing her battle with cancer.

She was born on February 6, 1973, in Tulsa, OK, to Ron and Glenda (Miller) Powers.  Trina was united in marriage to Wallace E. Minkler on July 1, 2011 in Alma, Neb.

Trina graduated with the class of 1992 from Phillipsburg High School. Two years after graduating she gave birth to Tyler Wade Powers on May 28, 1994. He was her pride and joy. Having a child with special needs was a gift from God for her. She handled it like a strong mom would.

Trina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her enjoyment was going to Special Olympics activities involving Tyler and also to ARC of Hays. She made several friends during the years through these organizations. She loved watching Tyler and his friends participate in basketball, bowling, the Night to Shine, and many other activities.

Her other joy was working at Hays Area Children Center, as a caregiver. She really enjoyed her job there until she got too sick to continue. She loved telling fun stories about her little humans she took care of and some of the unique names she had come across.

Tyler was her pride and joy along with all her nieces and nephews. She was even present at her latest great nephew's birth.

Trina was a bright light whenever she walked into a room. Her beautiful smile and oh those dimples would put a smile everyone's faces. She was loved by so many.

She is survived by her husband Wally of the home, her son Tyler Powers, Hays; her father Ron Powers, Hays; sister Ronda Jerby and husband, Tim of Kensington; brother and sister-in-law James and Staci Minkler of Phillipsburg; eleven nieces and nephews; and multiple great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Glenda Powers; sister Janna Constable; nephews Trenton Brinkman and Damon Beckman; and mother and father in-law Milburn and Marilyn Minkler.

Cremation is planned.  A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Brent Rice officiating. The services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page .   Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.
